What to expect:

In this workshop, students will be introduced to the essential materials, tools, and techniques of oil painting. We’ll begin with an overview of the medium and a brief look at its historical background, then move into hands-on practice.

Guided step by step, students will experiment with wet-on-wet techniques while creating a still life painting. By the end of the session, participants will gain a foundational understanding of oil painting and feel more confident working with the medium as they continue to develop their skills.

About the Instructor:

Celine Lam (b.1999) is a mixed-media artist in Brooklyn. She attends Hunter College’s MFA program in painting, with a BFA degree in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her current practice focuses on the polarities in the context of all matters. She uses marks, abstract images to depict contemporary issues that echo with her generation. Lam often works with mixed-media paper sculptures and paintings, employing calligraphy practice paper. Lam’s work has been exhibited internationally in New York, Shanghai, Mexico, and Hong Kong.
