THE PAINTING SCHOOL
UPSTATE OPEN HOUSE
Please join us on Saturday, May 17th, 1:00 - 5:00,
for an afternoon of food, drink and art!
We would love to say “Thank You!” to the members of The Painting School community for your amazing support and creative energy by inviting you to head upstate for an afternoon of food and drink and lots of art supplies.
Bring your family or a friend and spend the afternoon hanging out on the big porch or drawing in the woods!
Our house is a former rooming house where artists and starting in the 1880s artists would travel to from the city to stay for the summer and make art. Please come and add some of your creative energy to the history!
Where: Cragsmoor, New York
Date: Saturday, May 17th 1:00 - 5:00
RSVP Here if you plan to attend and we will share more details closer to the event.
What to expect: From 1:00 - 5:00 we will have graphite pencils, clay, markers, watercolors and Japanese ink available for kids & adults.
Still lifes of flowers, objects and natural objects will be set up on the porch and inside the dining room for inspiration. Or, take a drawing board and art supplies into the trees or down by the pond to draw from nature.
We will also have a larger, nature-based collaborative artwork happening.
OR you can also do nothing but eat and drink!
RSVP HERE!
Food & Drink: We will have way too much food - Cake and sandwiches and salad and fruit, vegetarian and gluten-free options as well. We will have alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and a cupcake decorating station for kids and the young at heart
Tons of Art!: We will make ink out of anything we can find, from wild flowers to old rocks to tree bark. We will make a collaborate, massive drawing, paint flowers using Japanese ink and paint some trees.
Hide & Seek and Other games: We have volleyball and croquet and our house has hosted epic games of hide and seek in the past. We are also hoping to have some wonderful teens on hand to watch you kids so you can relax.
Come rain or shine! We have a massive porch and a big living area so we will be able to host you all no matter what the weather is like.
What to bring: Nothing! We will have everything from food to drink to sunscreen!
How to get there: This is the hard part. Cragsmoor is a beautiful mountaintop hamlet (recently making an appearance in that boulder scene in Severance), but it is not on a train or bus line.
***If you want to come but are having trouble finding you way there please let us know and we will help you find space in a carpool or help get you a ride from the train!***
Our address is 123 Sam’s Point Road
By Car: Here is how you can get there. Sometimes our house shows up as being located in Pine Bush, NY instead of Cragsmoor. You’ll wind up in the same place.
By Train:
From Hoboken to Middletown, New York (not Middletown NJ). Middletown is about a 30 minute Uber ride from us. Train schedule is here!
From Grand Central to Beacon, train schedule is here. You would then Uber to Cragsmoor, about a 40 minute ride.
We hope you can make it! And thank you being part of The Painting School.
