This class is for people with a quite a bit of painting experience who understand the basics and now want to work on a series of work and gain the skills required to get to the next level of painting.

Each week will focus on a different artist or art movement. Through the lens of those artists and their work we will explore the complicated art techniques and theories that they highlight.

Some classes will include:

• How light hits the face - portrait painting

• Underpainting and picture blocking

• How to paint a strong series like Jacob Lawrence

• Light & dark in the spirit of Goya

• Minimalist representational painting

• Mosaic nature painting - filling the sky and the fields like Gladys Mgudlandlu
