Our central focus will be understanding how warm and cool colors work together to create light, shadow, depth, and atmosphere. We’ll explore how color temperature can bring an ordinary subject to life, shape a painting’s mood, and create a sense of luminosity.
Working with drawing, watercolor, gouache, and pastel, we’ll investigate how cool shadows make warm light glow and how subtle shifts in color create form, space, and distance.
Each class will pair a historical artist with a contemporary artist, drawing inspiration from their approaches to color and light through practical exercises and individual paintings. Together, we’ll continue developing our skills while discovering new ways to see and interpret the world around us.
