The focus of this 9-week Tuesday morning class this spring will be on getting more sophisticated with color mixing and palettes, portraits and figures, so we can really elevate our work.

We will also be talking about ways to build a strong series that will lead towards creating a strong website or landing an art show.

• Influence of Japanese art on Impressionism - what we can learn from their compositions and marks

• Experimenting with chromatic grays and blacks -nuanced dark values & chiaroscuro like Artemisia Gentileschi

• Blocking out shapes

• Matching natural colors and mixing strong colors

• Combining vibrants & neutrals in portraits in smart ways like Matisse - color mixing

• Playing with color gamuts
