65 WOODHULL STREET, CARROLL GARDENS, BROOKLYN

& THE CATSKILLS

Since 2017 The Painting School has offered art classes to children and adults in Brooklyn and the Catskills. At our new, two-story Carroll Gardens studio (65 Woodhull Street) we offer classes, workshops and events like live models, date nights, paint & sips, and parties! Our classes and workshops feature a wide range of mediums and are taught by a variety of amazing instructors.

We use art history and contemporary art to teach all of our students what makes a great work of art.

Kids & adults have a great time growing their skill set, building creative confidence and making great art.

We have fun while making some seriously great art.

We are dedicated to building community around art and helping people lead more meaningful lives with art at the center.

THE PAINTING SCHOOL WAS FOUNDED

by painter and writer Sara Woster who began teaching painting in 2017 in an effort to bring art to her community. She is the author of the painting how to / memoir (think Bird by Bird for painting!) Painting Can Save Your Life: How and Why We Paint from Penguin Random House. You can see her artwork here.

We have led art classes and workshops in partnership with the Bryant Park Corporation, Clinique, NYC Cultural Affairs, The Ned, the Friend of Firefighters, Powell Communications, Red Hook Art Project, South Dakota Humanities Council, Wallkill River Center for the Arts, Main Street Arts, the Red Hook Library and more.

We offer private classes, corporate workshops, and community-based classes for artists of all ages, from seniors to kids.
