This Thursday afternoon 8-week open studio is for kids who love making things, getting messy, playing with new materials and, of course, painting a lot.

Each week we create 2 or 3 different art stations that are built around a creative idea or project, but how the child uses the materials we provide and how they direct their creative energy is up to them.

Our new location has a great backyard so we will also be able to do some fun activities with planting, flowers and painting en plein air.

Our program is built around the idea that art and play are important and that and creative confidence and artistic experimentation are worthy goals.

For the K-2 open studios we will focus on getting the kids excited to make art and growing their confidence in their own artistic abilities. Some weeks they will come home with 2 Monet-inspired masterpieces on canvas, other weeks they will spend the entire class gluing cotton balls onto cardboard. We think both are worthy ways to build creative skills.
