This 9-week class with Sara Woster is for people with a quite a bit of painting experience who understand the basics and want to work on a series of work and gain the skills required to get to the next level of painting.

Each week will focus on a different artist or art movement. Through the lens of those artists and their work we will explore the complicated art techniques and theories that they highlight.

Some classes will include:

• Influence of Japanese art on Impressionism

• Experimenting with chromatic grays and blacks -nuanced dark values & chiaroscuro like Artemisia Gentileschi

• Playing with high value contrast like Reggie Burrows Hodges & Lois Dodd

• Blocking out shapes

• Combining vibrants & neutrals in smart ways like Matisse

• Playing with color gamuts

• And more!

When: Wednesday nights, 7-9

Cost: $450 for 9 weeks if you bring your own supplies, $520 if you use our supplies
